The family of Gore, alongside local residents, carried his body to the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) headquarters to stage a sit-in protest. They are demanding the filing of a criminal case against the contractor involved in the incident and are also seeking employment for Gore’s wife within the civic body.

Nashik : A late-night bike ride ended in tragedy on Saturday when a 33-year-old man was killed after allegedly crashing into a pipe laid across a road work site in Satpur.

Calling the incident “unfortunate”, the water supply department said the road had been closed for pipeline-laying work and that warning reflectors and signboards had been installed around 50 metres before the excavation site. Officials said CCTV footage from nearby establishments is being examined. By Sunday, grief had turned into protest, with relatives placing his body outside the civic body’s headquarters and demanding action against the contractor they blamed for the accident. The protesters first approached Gangapur police, pressing for a culpable homicide case. When no immediate action was taken, they shifted their agitation to Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan. As police locked the main gate, the protesters placed the body outside the civic headquarters and continued their demonstration. Relatives alleged that poor safety measures at the work site caused the accident. They claimed darkness, rain and accumulated mud reduced visibility, making it difficult for motorists to notice the black pipes laid across the road. The municipal corporation, however, denied that safety precautions were lacking. The postmortem report is awaited. Gangapur police have registered an accidental death case.

Protest Following Death of Local Man

Hours after the tragic death of local resident Gore, his family and community members transported his body to the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) headquarters. They staged a sit-in protest, demanding accountability from the contractor involved in the incident. The protesters called for a criminal case to be filed against the contractor and requested a job for Gore’s wife within the civic body.
