Gandhinagar : Surat’s New Civil Hospital has strengthened its critical care and renal treatment facilities with the inauguration of a 30-bed dialysis centre and the expansion of its medical and surgical intensive care units. The hospital has increased the capacity of both its medical and surgical ICUs from 10 to 20 beds each. Addressing the gathering, Sanghavi said the hospital handles 4,500 to 5,000 OPD patients every day and has the capacity to provide treatment to around 1,500 inpatients. Sanghavi lauded the hospital‘s organ donation team for its contribution to saving lives and noted that Surat, which once had only one dialysis centre, now has more than 30 such facilities. The minister said work on a new 1,500-bed hospital at Kamrej is progressing and urged healthcare workers to ensure quality medical services reach every needy person.
The upgrades also include an isolation ICU for organ donation cases, an upgraded emergency department, and a helpdesk. He also cautioned against ragging in medical institutions and called for greater discipline and responsibility among students. Deputy CM Harsh Sanghavi inaugurated the new facilities on Sunday in the presence of health minister Praful Pansheriya and senior officials.
