Amazon pauses operations with 21 Air after Miami cargo plane crash killed five
Amazon has paused its operations with 21 Air, the cargo airline that operated the Amazon Air flight involved in a deadly crash at Miami International Airport last weekend. The decision comes as investigators continue to examine why the Boeing 767-300 overran the runway while landing and struck vehicles on the ground. Amazon spokesperson Kelly Nantel said the company had decided to pause operations with 21 Air, which operated Flight 7598 for Amazon Air. Amazon has worked with 21 Air as part of its Amazon Air cargo network. The carrier had been operating flights for Amazon since 2024. The aircraft was 32 years old. It had previously operated as a passenger aircraft for several airlines before being converted into a cargo plane in 2015, according to flight-tracking service Flightradar24. 21 Air said it would continue supporting the families of those affected and would work with the NTSB and its customers, including Amazon.
Amazon said it made the decision after reviewing the circumstances around the accident and while continuing to support the investigation, according to a Reuters report. “We remain focused on supporting the families and loved ones who were impacted by this accident, as well as working closely with the NTSB and all our partners, like Amazon, as the investigation continues,” 21 Air said in a statement to Reuters.
