The accused have been booked under Section 205 (wearing garb or carrying a token used by a public servant with fraudulent intent) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act . Police investigations revealed none of the car owners were associated with any MLA in the district.
Pune: Three car owners with stickers reading “Maharashtra Vidhansabha Sadasya, Amdar (MLA)” on their cars were booked by Pimpri Chinchwad police. “During the inquiry, some drivers told the police that they had put up the stickers with the intention of gaining financial benefits and receiving preferential treatment for their vehicles,” an officer from Pimpri Chinchwad crime branch said. He added, “A search is on for the suspects who made and sold these stickers to car owners. ”
The drivers and owners were questioned about the stickers. Cases were registered with Pimpri, Bhosari and Hinjewadi police on Sunday and Monday.
