KMC will mark Modi’s 25 years in public office with a series of programmes starting Sept 17, including a three-day welfare scheme enrolment camp and the lighting of diyas
Kolkata: The state govt has asked Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) and administrations of neighbouring districts to bring 50,000 Annapurna scheme beneficiaries to Boimela ground on Sept 17, Prime Minister Narendra Modi ’s birthday.
The PM is likely to address the gathering via video conference, a state govt official said. “We have urged Credai, chambers of commerce, hotels and restaurants and everyone present in the meeting to light diyas to illuminate their offices and buildings on Sept 17 on the occasion of the PM’s birthday,” Rai said. “KMC and district administrations of Howrah, Hooghly, North 24 Parganas and South 24 Parganas will have to arrange 50,000 Annapurna Yojana beneficiaries for the programme at Boimela ground,” the official said. “The CM will interact with beneficiaries, and some may be invited on stage.”
Urban development and municipal affairs minister Agnimitra Paul and minister of state in the department Umesh Rai attended the meeting. Ministers and senior govt officials on Tuesday met chambers of commerce, Credai, representatives of hospitality bodies, universities, railways, and authorities of Victoria Memorial to solicit their participation in celebrating the PM’s birthday.
