The action commenced with mass casual leave, followed by an office boycott starting Wednesday. This agitation is expected to disrupt local administrative operations, impacting services related to land records and revenue collection, which could have wider implications for economic activities in the region.
The revenue officials clarified that minor errors in the digital e-mutation system are routinely used to target staff, despite stemming from software glitches or missing physical records.
About 711 talathi officials and 126 circle officers did not attend the office, halting vital services for at least 15,000 farmers per day who rely on them for 7/12 extract delivery, mutation entries, bank record updates, loan applications and many more services. District unit president Sanjay Gade said, “The officer has been routinely humiliating staff during review meetings, using derogatory language, and issuing constant threats of suspension, thereby creating an environment of intense stress and insecurity, particularly among female employees. ” Gade added that three revenue staff members were arbitrarily suspended while others faced pay-increment freezes without proper procedure. “A thorough administrative inquiry into the alleged misconduct, alongside a firm administrative guarantee of a safe and respectful working environment for all staff members should be assured,” Gade said. The protest is directed against the alleged arbitrary administrative actions and high-handed behavior of Trimbakeshwar-Igatpuri sub-divisional officer GVS Pavandatta, who recently suspended three talathis and ordered pay-increment freezes for a circle officer and two talathis. In a formal representation submitted to the district collector, the Nashik District Talathi Association leveled severe allegations against the sub-divisional officer. The strike severely disrupted local revenue administration. Protesters in Igatpuri and Trimbakeshwar surrendered their digital signature certificates and exited official WhatsApp groups. It directly impacts a farmer’s livelihood, inheritance and dignity. When serious discrepancies, unexplained delays, or statutory circumventions —especially regarding protected tribal lands — come to light, the administration cannot turn a blind eye.
