Without addressing these issues and without providing safe govt accommodation, invoking a redundant govt order to punish teachers is arbitrary,” said teacher’s leader Rajesh Hiwale. “When it was issued, the situation in rural areas was different. Today, teachers face serious issues of safety, lack of rented accommodation, poor transport and absence of basic facilities in remote villages.
It announced plans for an indefinite hunger strike during Diwali, along with family members, if no positive decision is taken on the teachers’ demands.
Warning of a bigger showdown, the action committee said it would intensify the agitation if the order is not revoked.
