The Lucknow Traffic Police has intensified its crackdown on vehicles fitted with modified silencers and launched a special enforcement drive to curb excessive noise and sound pollution caused by such alterations.
Lucknow: Traffic police conducted a special enforcement drive against vehicles fitted with modified silencers from Sept 2 to 14, issuing challans to 808 vehicle owners and seizing 22 vehicles during the 13-day campaign. A total of 5,583 vehicles were checked and 601 modified silencers were removed from two-wheelers found violating prescribed standards, traffic police said. The campaign was launched to curb the use of modified exhaust systems that produce excessively loud noise, particularly on motorcycles.
