Uddhav to lead Sambhajinagar sit-in on Liberation Day, target Marathwada backlog

Shiv Sena (UBT) has accused govt of repeatedly announcing projects worth thousands of crores while failing to complete them on the ground.

The agitation, scheduled for 11.30am, coincides with chief minister Devendra Fadnavis’s visit to the city for the official Liberation Day programme. MLC Ambadas Danve said state cabinet meetings held in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in Sept 2016 under Fadnavis and again in Sept 2023 under then chief minister Eknath Shinde had resulted in several major announcements for Marathwada.

Many of those projects are either incomplete or yet to take off, according to Sena (UBT). The campaign is aimed at bringing back the focus on the issue of pending Marathwada development works,” Danve said. Sena (UBT) politicians said the agitation is intended to pressure govt to expedite stalled projects, implement pending decisions and address the region’s long-standing development backlog.

The protest coincides with Marathwada Liberation Day and chief minister Devendra Fadnavis ’s visit to the city. “Thackeray’s participation in the agitation is a sign how seriously Shiv Sena (UBT) treats the issues of development as well as those close to the hearts of farmers. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar : Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray will lead a sit-in outside the divisional commissioner’s office in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on Thursday, escalating the party’s attack on govt over Marathwada’s unfinished projects.
