The hospital currently handles over 1,000 outpatient visits and more than 200 deliveries daily. Speciality and super-speciality departments, including cardiology, oncology and organ transplant services, are being introduced in phases.
Kore said the project aims to provide quality medical education, affordable healthcare and advanced research facilities in North Karnataka. Union minister Pralhad Joshi, Karnataka medical education minister Sharanaprakash R Patil and labour minister Santosh S Lad will also attend. The campus features wi-fi connectivity, simulation centres, laboratories, libraries, digital learning spaces, hostels, faculty housing and recreational areas.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research (KAHER) chancellor and KLE Technological University president Prabhakar Kore said the event will be held in the presence of Jagadguru Shri Gurusiddha Rajayogindra Mahaswami of Moorusavirmath.
Hubballi : Union home minister Amit Shah will inaugurate the new academic building of KLE Jagadguru Gangadhar Mahaswamigalu Moorusavirmath Medical College (JGMMMC) and the 1,200-bed KLE Hospital and Medical Research Centre at Gabbur, Hubballi, on Sept 19. Spread across 22 acres of land donated by Jagadguru Gangadhar Mahaswamigalu of Moorusavirmath, the project has more than 30 lakh sq ft of built-up area developed at a cost of around Rs 700 crore. Of the 1,200 beds, 300 are reserved for free treatment of underprivileged patients. Eligible patients will receive medicines, meals and essential services free of cost, while outpatient registration is fixed at Rs 10.
