Crazy Taxi World Tour release platforms

Crazy Taxi World Tour has been confirmed for 2027. Japanese gaming major Sega has announced that the new game in its long-running Crazy Taxi franchise will be playable at Tokyo Game Show 2026, giving fans their first major hands-on opportunity. The game will be showcased at Sega/Atlus’ booth at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan, from September 17 to September 21. The public can access the event from September 19 to September 21, while Sega will also host dedicated stage events around the game. Crazy Taxi World Tour will have a dedicated area at the Sega/Atlus booth in Hall 4-N01. The Mission Challenge will be on September 17 and the Demo Playthrough on September 19. Ahead of Tokyo Game Show, Sega held a closed network test from September 11 to September 13. Crazy Taxi World Tour is scheduled to launch in 2027. It will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox on PC, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC through Steam.

Sega first revealed Crazy Taxi World Tour during the Xbox Games Showcase in June. Sega has also confirmed that generative AI tools were used as a support aid during development.

The reveal trailer also featured The Offspring’s song “All I Want”, connecting the new title with the music-driven identity of the original Crazy Taxi. However, the company said it did not use the technology for the game’s voice performers. This marks the return of the Crazy Taxi series with a new open-world game featuring both single-player and multiplayer modes. Visitors can try an arcade-style demo using a racing wheel and also take photos with a life-size replica of Axel’s taxi. Sega has scheduled two-stage events for the game. Both events will also be streamed live on Sega’s YouTube channel. Crazy Taxi World Tour follows the series’ protagonist, Axel, as he travels across five cities worldwide. The story begins after a masked international crew steals his taxi, sending Axel on a chase across different locations. Gameplay retains the core Crazy Taxi formula of picking up passengers and getting to destinations quickly, but adds an open-world setting. Players can also make money through performing aerial stunts and odd jobs. The game will also include a classic time-attack Arcade Mode and vehicle customisation options. Sega is adding cross-platform multiplayer to the new Crazy Taxi game. Players will be able to compete in two modes called Pickup Race and Cops ‘N’ Cabbies. Both modes will support Ranked Match, which uses automatic matchmaking, and Custom Match, which allows players to create private lobbies and change gameplay rules. Series creator Kenji Kanno is returning as director. The test allowed selected players to try the Pickup Race and Cops ‘N’ Cabbies multiplayer modes. The Tokyo Game Show demo gives players an early look at Sega’s return to the Crazy Taxi franchise before its full release next year. Get the latest technology news and updates.
