Passersby rescued occupants trapped inside the auto
Chennai: Four people suffered minor injuries after an autorickshaw overturned into an unfinished rainwater drain on Valasaravakkam-Arcot Road on Sunday night.
The injured were identified as autorickshaw driver Murugan , 40, of Choolaimedu, and his relatives, Gopi, Revathi and Selva. Murugan had travelled to Porur with his family to attend a relative’s wedding reception. After the function, he was returning to Choolaimedu with his relatives when the autorickshaw fell into a pit dug for the unfinished drain on Valasaravakkam-Arcot Road.

Police said they were examining the circumstances that led to the accident and the condition of the unfinished drain. Passersby rescued the four occupants, who were trapped inside the autorickshaw. They were taken to the Government Peripheral Hospital in KK Nagar for treatment. Valasaravakkam police registered a case. Download the TOI App.
