Lucknow: Basti police has arrested a 23-year-old woman and her two maternal cousins for allegedly murdering contract worker Yashwant Kumar, whose body was found dumped near Dhamoura village on Sept 9.
The accused have been identified as Gudiya (23), described by police as Yashwant’s girlfriend and a resident of Khadwa Khurd, and her cousins Reema (26) and Sheela (20), residents of Kautikol area under Kaptanganj police station. An FIR was registered on Sept 11 on the complaint of Yashwant’s brother Hemant Kumar . During questioning, police said, the accused revealed that Ram Lalit and Reema transported the body on a motorcycle and dumped it.
Police said Yashwant’s body was recovered from a roadside spot in Walterganj police station area, while his motorcycle had earlier been found abandoned near Bairagal. Police claimed to have recovered two Android phones, two cheque books, an SBI ATM card and two photographs of Yashwant from them.
Two other accused were arrested earlier, while the three women remained absconding. The arrests were carried out on Wednesday in a joint operation by Walterganj police, Special Operations Group and the surveillance team after the trio allegedly kept shifting locations to avoid capture.
