Lucknow: Advocacy groups Youth For Equality (YFE) and Reservation Hatao Andolan (RHA) on Wednesday welcomed the Allahabad high court’s intervention in the MBBS admission process for four govt medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh , describing it as a major relief for general category and OBC aspirants.

In a statement, YFE said that it, along with RHA, extended legal assistance to students who challenged the reservation structure before the Lucknow bench of the high court. YFE said the court’s order would benefit general category and OBC students aspiring to secure MBBS seats in the four colleges. “The order has reinforced students’ faith in the judicial process and the principle of merit-based opportunities,” the organisation said. YFE said it would continue working with RHA on issues related to educational opportunities and reservation policy.

It also expressed gratitude to the lawyers representing the petitioners and credited RHA activists for pursuing the matter. Download the TOI App.
