NEW DELHI: A house servant allegedly planned to flee to Nepal, open a restaurant or cafe and build a lavish lifestyle with the proceeds of a burglary involving jewellery and cash worth around Rs 3 crore in north Delhi, police said. Two men were arrested and a 17-year-old was apprehended as a child in conflict with law (CCL) in connection with the case. Police recovered 117 gold and diamond jewellery items, Rs 4.34 lakh in cash and the bags used to carry the stolen property. The burglary was reported on September 6 from an apartment on Mall Road under Timarpur police station.
The complainant told police that two domestic servants, Anil and Vicky, had been hired the previous month and both were missing after the burglary. Their phones were also switched off. Police formed teams from Timarpur police station, Burari police station’s Crack Team and the North district Operation Cell to trace the suspects and recover the stolen property.
The burglary case was solved within a week with complete recovery of the stolen property, Delhi Police said on Thursday.
The house was locked as the family had gone abroad on September 2. When the family members learnt that the locks had been broken, they found the almirahs opened and valuables missing.
