CM Suvendu Adhikari hands over a cheque to a person under PM Vishwakarma scheme on Thursday in Kolkata
The CM alleged that PMCSPY was announced in the Union budget in 2021 for Assam and Bengal, but claimed the previous state govt had failed to implement it. He said his scheduled Oct 1 programme to inaugurate an industrial cluster at Budge Budge and hand over land to 32 industries had been advanced to Sept 23. He also announced the inauguration of a Rs 6,000-crore Haldia Petrochemicals project on Oct 14. Adhikari said around 2.2 lakh people had applied for the scheme, while nearly 3,000 had completed the three-stage verification process.
Earlier, at an event at Dhono Dhanyo Auditorium to mark three years of PM Vishwakarma, Adhikari said Bengal had introduced the scheme after the change of govt.
He alleged that although 7.7 lakh people were registered on the Vishwakarma portal, the previous TMC govt had stalled the scheme through “informal directions to district magistrates.”
Kolkata: CM Suvendu Adhikari on Thursday said the Union commerce ministry had approved a Rs 330-crore project under the Pradhan Mantri Cha Shramik Protsahan Yojana (PMCSPY) for Bengal, and expressed hope that the number of beneficiaries under the PM Vishwakarma scheme would rise to around five lakh over the next year. “We had sent a proposal of Rs 330 crore under PMCSPY for the development of the entire tea garden belt in north Bengal.
He said Vishwakarma Day next year would be celebrated at Brigade Parade Ground instead of an indoor venue to accommodate the beneficiaries. Piyush Goyal Ji (Union minister of commerce and industry ) has informed me that the project has been approved,” Adhikari said on the sidelines of a diya-lighting programme at Baje Kadamtala Ghat.
