The demands centre on Kunbi certificates, protection of 58 lakh caste records, and implementation of historical gazetteers linked to Maratha reservation claims. His key demands include issuing a fresh govt resolution on Maratha reservation, implementing the Aundh-Satara-Kolhapur Gazetteer on the lines of the Hyderabad Gazetteer, protecting all 58 lakh Maratha-Kunbi and Kunbi-Maratha records, approving four disputed Kunbi certificates and setting a timeline for issuing certificates and caste-validity clearances to eligible applicants. He also sought a written assurance that none of the 58 lakh records identified during the state’s verification exercise would be deleted. “Govt is extremely positive about meeting all the legitimate demands of the Maratha community and efforts will be taken to meet them within 90 days. We had accepted 12 of his 13 demands. He urged more than 1 lakh supporters who had headed towards Mumbai as part of the agitation to return home, while reiterating that he would not compromise on the Maratha community’s demands. After ending the 20-day fast, he was shifted to a private hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar for treatment.

Vikhe Patil said govt was committed to addressing all legitimate demands of the community. Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said govt had already accepted most of the demands raised by Jarange. The breakthrough came after Maratha reservation sub-committee chairman Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil met Jarange at Patoda in Beed district. The meeting took place less than a week after Vikhe Patil had indicated that further talks with the activist were unlikely. Jarange, however, made it clear that he had only suspended the agitation, not ended it. “I am happy that Manoj Jarange has called off his hunger strike. There are some administrative difficulties that need to be resolved, and we will address those as well. Regarding one demand, we have explained the legal difficulties involved to him. Jarange warned that the agitation would return if the promises remained on paper. “If govt betrays us, we will go to Mumbai. This was Jarange’s 11th major agitation in the last three years. Meanwhile, Maratha Kranti Morcha state coordinator Sanjay Lakhe Patil questioned the outcome of the protest. “Maratha community has gained nothing from Manoj Jarange’s latest fast, which was purely political in nature.
