Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar : Five people were killed and four others injured in separate lightning strikes in Sillod and Kannad talukas of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district on Thursday as thunderstorms and rain swept parts of the region.
A lightning strike in Dahigaon village of Sillod taluka around 1.30pm killed a couple — Manohar Dudhe (60) and Parvatabai Dudhe (57) — while injuring their son.

Officials said rain accompanied by thunder and lightning lashed Sillod taluka from 12.30pm. About an hour later, another lightning strike hit Pishor in Kannad taluka, killing three women aged 39, 50 and 17. The strike also seriously injured three others, a 25-year-old man and two women aged 38 and 40.
Their son lost consciousness and was taken to hospital.
Sillod tehsildar Sagar Waghmare said the couple were together when lightning struck. He later regained consciousness and remains under treatment. Authorities shifted the bodies to the Sillod sub-district hospital for postmortem. Authorities shifted two of the injured to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar for advanced treatment.
