Locals burst crackers after CI Anjaneyulu was caught in ACB case

Hyderabad: Officials of Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday arrested Keesara police station circle inspector A Anjaneyulu and sub-inspector D Gnanender Reddy after they allegedly accepted a bribe of Rs 5 lakh. The trap was laid by ACB sleuths at 12 am on Thursday. The two policemen allegedly demanded and accepted Rs 5 lakh from a complainant for doing an official favour.

It was while performing Ganesh bandobust duties that the SI was caught near Keesara lake. When the SI was accepting the cash inside a car, the waiting ACB sleuths swung into action and nabbed. However, he attempted to escape by disembarking from the car and then running from the spot. ACB officials made a chase and caught him. Gnanender Reddy was brought to Keesara police station, where his confession statement was taken. Since ACB officials had information that Anjaneyulu was behind the conspiracy, he was also taken into custody.

The complainant was earlier booked by Keesara police in a case of illegal diversion of PDS rice. On Thursday, locals gathered near Keesara police station and celebrated the development by bursting crackers and recalled the alleged unfair practices of Anjaneyulu.
