Ahmedabad: A city sessions court on Thursday denied regular bail to Samir Pathan, 27, who was arrested for allegedly repackaging low-cost Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) as premium liquor and selling it at inflated prices. Pathan sought bail maintaining innocence and claiming that the details mentioned in the complaint were not true.
Crime Branch nabbed Pathan near Fatehwadi canal in Sarkhej earlier this month.
He stated, “At this stage, prima facie, it is revealed that applicant is involved in the offence alleged. It is also revealed from the material available on record that the applicant is having criminal antecedents. After the hearing, additional sessions judge J I Patel rejected the bail plea. Investigation in the matter is in progress and at crucial stage. Thus, considering overall facts and circumstances of the case, at this stage, I am not inclined to use the discretionary power of this court in favour of the present applicant to enlarge him on regular bail (sic). ”
