Hyderabad: In a move aimed at easing voter verification during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, Telangana chief electoral officer (CEO) C Sudharshan Reddy has allowed adult family members to submit documents on behalf of voters who have received notices from election authorities.
Reddy also issued fresh directions regarding the scrutiny of form 6 applications, receipt of declaration forms and disposal of claims.
He said district election officers had already been informed of the new provision and instructed to review pending notices and expedite their disposal. The CEO directed election officials to accept such submissions and take necessary steps to dispose of notices issued during the electoral roll revision process.
Under the revised procedure, any adult member of a voter’s family can appear before the electoral registration officer (ERO) or assistant ERO and furnish the required documents and information on the voter’s behalf.
Taking Oct 1, 2026, as the qualifying date, he said officials must obtain the prescribed declaration form for all pending Form 6 applications as well as those received in the future.
