A 40-year-old man was reportedly murdered by his co-worker on Wednesday night at a scrap godown located in Sangavdewadi, near Gokul Shirgaon, Kolhapur. The incident occurred following a heated argument between the two men, which escalated after they had been drinking together. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the altercation that led to the fatal incident.
Kolhapur: Local crime branch has arrested Sangram Bhagiratram Dara (30) Jodhpur (Rajasthan) from Kaneriwadi and seized 7kg of opium powder worth Rs 1 lakh. In another case, police seized 28g of mephedrone worth Rs 5.04 lakh and arrested Pintu alias Dhanaji Pandurang Jadhav (34) of Shahapur, Ichalkaranji, and Siddharth Bade of Ichalkaranji, allegedly the supplier. The case has been registered at Shahapur police station under sections 8(c), 22(b) and 29 of the NDPS Act, said assistant sub-inspector Avinash Mungase.
Police said the two had consumed alcohol when an argument broke out after Bhosle allegedly refused to share a cellphone number for making a call. He was later produced before a court, which remanded him to five days of police custody, said sub-inspector M Rajput. The dispute escalated into a scuffle, during which Dudhade allegedly picked up an iron bar lying on the premises and struck Bhosle on the head. Bhosle suffered severe injuries and died before he could receive medical treatment. Gokul Shirgaon police arrested Dudhade at the scene. Dara, who works with a transport firm, was arrested following a tip-off. A case has been registered at Gokul Shirgaon police station.
