Camps are being organized as part of the SIR exercise, which is linked to the recent publication of the draft electoral roll. This initiative aims to facilitate the electoral process and ensure proper engagement with the updated voter information.
Kolhapur : The district election department will hold special camps at all 3,455 polling booths on Sept 19, 20, 26 and 27 to facilitate new voter registrations, corrections in electoral rolls and deletion of names. These include Form 6 for new voter registration, Form 7 for deletion of names and Form 8 for correction or updating of voter details. Voters can use the 2002 electoral roll details of such relatives to establish their inclusion in the voter list during the claims and objections period,” Chavan said. Voters can submit any of the 12 documents prescribed by Election Commission of India or any other supporting proof that satisfies the electoral registration officer, assistant electoral registration officer or additional assistant electoral registration officer. Claims and objections can be filed till Sept 30.

Deputy district election officer Mohini Chavan said distribution of enumeration forms to all BLOs had been completed. Clarifying the provisions under the SIR process, Chavan said voters might link their records to a “relative” whose details existed in the 2002 electoral roll. Booth-level officers (BLOs) will be available at their respective polling stations from 10am to 6pm to assist the voters in filling and submitting applications. The camps are being organised as part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, following the publication of the draft electoral roll. People have been advised to verify their names and details in the draft list and file claims or objections, if required. BLOs have also been collecting duly filled forms from the voters. “The term ‘relative’ is, however, restricted to blood relatives like parents and grandparents. Download the TOI App.
