Nashik: The Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority (NTKMA) would convene a fresh meeting

Over 70 corporators had staged a walkout over a 90-minute delay last month

The move comes a month after over 70 Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) corporators staged a walkout over a 90-minute delay, alleging absence of senior officials and poor coordination. NTKMA officials will present updates on preparations for the 2027 Simhastha Kumbh Mela and outline key projects linked to the mega religious gathering. He said while a meeting was held last month, only 35-40 corporators remained after a majority walked out following a prolonged delay. Another key issue likely to dominate discussions is the approval of only 28 of the 61 road projects proposed by the civic administration under the Kumbh development plan. The corporators are expected to seek clarity on pending proposals and project priorities as preparations for the 2027 Simhastha Kumbh Mela gather pace.

NTKMA commissioner Shekhar Singh said the authority wanted greater engagement with corporators and planned to seek their feedback on Kumbh-related works. “To ensure wider participation and better coordination, the authority decided to organise another meeting by the end of the month,” Singh said. Officials said discussions would focus on infrastructure development, traffic management, civic amenities and inter-departmental coordination for Kumbh projects.

Nashik: The Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority (NTKMA) would convene a fresh meeting with elected representatives later this month. The meeting, to be chaired by Kumbh Mela minister Girish Mahajan, is expected to include senior officials from city police commissionerate and other govt departments. The previous meeting had sparked resentment among corporators, prompting demands for a separate briefing by Kumbh Mela Authority before NMC general body. During a recent civic house meeting, corporators urged Mayor Himgauri Aher to invite Singh to present details of ongoing and proposed works. Download the TOI App.
