New Delhi: A day after a petition by Sir Sobha Singh Public Charitable Trust over alleged non-payment of rent by Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) surfaced, the trade outfit Friday told a Delhi court that it had been paying rent directly to the trust for decades and had rent receipts issued in its name.
He further contended that in 2006, both sides had verbally agreed that BMS could undertake repairs at its own cost instead of paying rent. It has spent around Rs 8 lakh on repairs since 2006, an amount exceeding the rent due with interest, according to BMS. The trust has alleged rent has not been paid since Jan 2006 and that arrears exceeded Rs 1.27 lakh as of Feb 2021.
