The event is launched in KP commissioner Ajay Nand’s presence
On the day of Vishwakarma Puja, the Kolkata Police inducted another 183 Ultraviolette X-47 Skyforce electric motorcycles into the department. Nand confirmed that the vehicles will be used for the dial 112 network (emergency response support system). This green transition comes two years after the West Bengal Pollution Control Board (PCB) partnered with the state police for the green initiative, under which the PCB committed to providing 1,450 e-bicycles to police departments across the state.
Kolkata: It was in July that the iconic red Royal Enfield motorcycles, which have served as a symbol of authority and identity for Kolkata Police traffic sergeants, began to be phased out with greener bikes. Ajay Nand, commissioner of police, who flagged off the bikes in the presence of P B Salim (IAS), chairman and managing director, West Bengal Power Development Corporation Ltd which is funding this acquisition as part of its CSR activity, stated that more four-wheeler EVs will reach Kolkata Police soon as Lalbazar is trying to make a large portion of its fleet eco-friendly.
