KMC Commissioner Rajendra Bharud and Mayor Rouparani Nikam, along with other officials, conducted a trial of an automatic ramp at the Irani quarry. This installation aims to expedite the idol immersion process, which is significant during local festivals. The ramp is designed to streamline operations and reduce delays associated with traditional immersion methods.

Kolhapur municipal corporation (KMC) has intensified patchwork on routes leading to Irani Quarry and Panchaganga Ghat, which, alongside Rajaram Barrage, Rajaram Lake, Kotitirth, and other city chowks, have been provided with 160 artificial immersion tanks for household idol immersion. KMC mayor Rouparani Nikam said, “Immersion tanks have been set up at as many places as possible so devotees can carry out immersion near their homes. Police Inspector Nandkumar More, city traffic branch, said, “Vehicles going from CSIBER Chowk to Sambhajinagar will go via Hockey Stadium, Ramanandnagar, Kalamba Jail, Tapovan ground. “Raoji Mangal Karyalay Area, Sambhajinagar Bus Stand, Raj Kapoor Statue to Deokar Panand Chowk, Vacant space in front of Deokar Panand, Brahmapuri Hill area will be designated as parking spaces for Saturday,” added More.
Citizens are urged to donate their idols and save river and lake water from getting polluted. To avoid traffic congestion as crowds gather to immerse idols, changes have been made to traffic routes in the city. Vehicular entry has been closed at Panchganga Ghat and Irani Quarry. Roads from Gangawesh to Chhatrapati Shivaji Bridge and Toraskar Chowk to Panchaganga River have been closed to traffic. Vehicles coming from Sambhajinagar are likely to face congestion at Irani quarry located adjacent to Rankala lake as it remains the only natural water body allowing idol immersion. Vehicles coming to the city from Phulewadi will proceed via Phulewadi Ring Road, New Vashi Naka, Kalamba. The road leading to Rajaram Barrage will be closed to traffic near SRPF camp. Other road closures will include Shivaji University to Sarnobatwadi, Shahu Mill Chowk to Udyamnagar and Ambai Tank to Crusher Chowk. Parking arrangements have been made at five places.
