A fast-track court in Muzaffarnagar has sentenced a 30-year-old man to life imprisonment for the murder of his friend. The incident occurred after the victim reportedly made advances towards the man’s wife. The court’s decision underscores the serious legal consequences of violent actions stemming from personal disputes.
Life Imprisonment for Murder in Factory Attack Case
On April 14, 2023, Rahul left his home for work but did not return. The next day, his family received a disturbing photograph via WhatsApp, allegedly showing his body with his face covered in black soot. Following this, Rahul’s father filed a complaint, claiming that his son had been attacked with a sharp weapon inside an unidentified factory.
Saini was arrested and named the sole accused in the case. He faced charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including Section 302, which pertains to murder. During the trial, the prosecution presented evidence from 13 witnesses and submitted relevant documents.
In court, Saini’s attorney requested leniency, highlighting his financial struggles, his role as the sole provider for his family, and his responsibility towards his young children. However, the court determined that the severity of the crime warranted a significant punishment, though it did not classify the case as one of the “rarest of rare” instances that would justify the death penalty. Consequently, Saini was sentenced to life imprisonment under Section 302 of the IPC, along with three years of rigorous imprisonment under Section 201, which addresses the destruction of evidence.
Conviction in Evidence Disappearance Case
Ajay Saini has been convicted by Additional Sessions Judge Shiv Kumari for causing the disappearance of evidence in a legal case. The court imposed a fine of Rs 45,000 on Saini. On Saturday, Assistant District Government Counsel Kamal Kant reported that Saini and the victim, Rahul Kumar, 23, were friends and both employed at the same factory.
