Penélope Cruz knows how to make a red-carpet look feel glamorous without making it look overworked. At the Toronto International Film Festival, the actor did exactly that in a white feathered gown paired with jewellery inspired by one of India’s most recognisable treasures: its spices.
For the red carpet, she chose a gown by Tamara Ralph from the designer’s Fall 2026 couture collection. Cruz was in Toronto for the premiere of La Bola Negra, which was screened at the Princess of Wales Theatre during TIFF. The feathered look had made its runway debut during Paris Couture Week in July. The dress was dramatic without being overly complicated. Its fitted white silhouette featured a deep neckline and a slightly flared skirt, while feathers and fringe added movement to the otherwise clean look. One of the standout pieces was the Rekindle Necklace, centred around a 19-carat golden heliodor. The necklace also features yellow and pink sapphires around the central gemstone, and according to the supplied report, took more than 1,200 hours of craftsmanship to complete. She also wore a Wildflower Heart Ring, featuring a 13-carat amethyst at its centre.
Cruz wore pieces from ZOYA’s upcoming High Jewellery collection, which draws inspiration from Indian spices and their colours and textures. Its warm yellow tone was designed to evoke the turmeric-rich palette associated with India’s spice traditions. Pink sapphires and diamonds were arranged around the stone to create a flower-like design. The gemstone’s cut reportedly took almost a year of experimentation and precision work. Cruz kept the rest of the styling relatively simple. Her hair was pulled into a sleek chignon, with fringe framing her face, while soft peach blush and a nude-brown ombré lip completed the look. And that balance worked. The feathers brought a playful edge to the classic white gown, while the warm-toned jewellery added a distinctly different layer to the red-carpet look. For an actor who has long been associated with timeless beauty, Cruz’s TIFF appearance offered something slightly more unexpected: old-school Hollywood glamour, dramatic couture and jewellery carrying an Indian-inspired story, all in one look.
