Raichur : Two boys were killed and several others injured after a tractor allegedly went out of control and rammed into a Ganesha immersion procession in Raichur city late on Friday night.
The deceased were identified as 14-year-old Suchith and 16-year-old Charan Kumar.
The tractor driver is suspected of having accidentally pressed the accelerator instead of the brake, causing the vehicle to go out of control and veer into the crowd, according to preliminary information. Police said the exact cause of the accident would be determined through a detailed investigation. The accident occurred near M Eeranna Circle in the Zahirabad area. Both reportedly died on the spot. The procession was proceeding from Zahirabad towards Khasbavi for Ganesha immersion when the incident took place.
Raichur traffic police visited the spot and conducted an inspection. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway into the circumstances surrounding the accident, including the manner in which the tractor was being driven.
