The truck driver allegedly fled the scene after the crash, police said. Hyderabad: A routine tyre change on the Outer Ring Road turned fatal early Saturday when a truck rammed a stationary scrap-carrying vehicle near Shamirpet, killing three workers.
Ismail Hussain, 26, along with labourers Rinku, Ibrahim, Ashok and Bhim Sha, was travelling from Chegunta towards Keesara with a load of scrap. After taking Exit 6 towards Shamirpet, the vehicle’s right rear tyre punctured about 300 metres beyond the bridge.
The incident occurred around midnight near Leonia Footover Bridge, according to the complaint. Bhim Sha, who was at the scene, reportedly told police that he saw the truck driver, who identified himself as Nagaraju , a resident of Miyapur. Nagaraju allegedly fled the scene following the accident, officials said.
The workers pulled over in the emergency lane and began changing the tyre.
Shamirpet police registered a case based on the complaint and launched an investigation into the crash and the whereabouts of the truck driver.
