Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Saturday alleged that farmers in Wanaparthy district were facing frequent power cuts and inadequate irrigation water, and accused the Telangana govt of failing to address their problems.
Addressing the gathering in Pebbaru town, KTR said farmers in Gummadam and Pebberu had complained that they were getting electricity for only five to six hours a day, contrary to officials’ claim of 12-hour supply. He alleged that power supply was being interrupted 10 to 12 times a day, resulting in motors and starters getting damaged. The BRS leader said the Jurala ayacut covered around 1.1 lakh acres and warned that BRS would not allow farmers’ lands to dry up. On the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme, KTR claimed that around 90% of the project had been completed during the previous BRS govt.
Because it did not want former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao to receive credit for the project, he alleged that the Congress govt was delaying the remaining works.
