The petitioner stated that he visited several central prisons to know about neglected prisoners. During his interaction with a few such prisoners, he found out that they did not know about their case status, hearing dates and orders passed by courts. The prisoners were dependent on information about their cases through the legal aid counsel appointed by the concerned district legal services authority.
