Addressing reporters at the SP headquarters in Lucknow, Akhilesh said the party was already working to ensure that voters’ names were not “diluted” during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. We need to be vigilant,” he said. He further said BJP had initially wanted the assembly elections to be held earlier, but its internal assessments now suggested that the polls should take place as scheduled. He also said just like the Election Commission sidelined the state police during the West Bengal elections, a similar situation could arise in Uttar Pradesh as well.
The former UP CM also spoke about the party’s preparations for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, saying the organisation would have to remain active both on the ground and on digital platforms. He asked workers to create content that would keep the party organisation motivated and help communicate its political message to voters.
