Bulandshahr: A 65-year-old woman allegedly poured an inflammable substance on her son and teenage grandson and set them ablaze before being found hanging from a tree hours later in Dadupur village of Meerut district, police said. Investigators are probing whether she died by suicide or was killed.
Sumitra Devi’s daughter-in-law told police that Devi set her son Paramveer, 45, and grandson Uday , 14, on fire on Saturday night. Falawada SHO Poonam Jadaun said, “The incident may have followed a domestic dispute over Devi’s pension money, but police are investigating all possible angles. Police said statements of the injured would be recorded once their condition permitted. Devi’s husband, Brajveer, is undergoing treatment for an illness, police said.
