Nashik : A state-level conference on integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into medical practice was held in Nashik, drawing over 225 medical professionals.
Looking ahead to the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela, Prasad urged medical professionals to support the administration as the district population swells 10 to 15 times. He also announced plans to strengthen blood banks, including a DPDC-funded storage unit at the Regional Referral Hospital, backed by blood donation drives from April to June 2027. Medical science will see more evolution in the next 6 years than it has seen in the last 60 due to artificial intelligence, as real-time analysis of data is now possible.
Narrating his research experience on decision support systems, Prasad said that medical science relies on evolving theorems where treatments suitable for European genes may not yield identical results for Indian genetics, making a doctor’s clinical judgment irreplaceable. Highlighting technology’s transformative potential, Prasad said, “AI engines become perfect with medical research and better-described case papers. Organised by the Indian Medical Association (IMA), the event focused on practical AI deployment, administrative workflows, and legal compliance under the Digital Personal Data Protection framework. District collector Ayush Prasad, who was the chief guest, commended doctors for adapting to AI rather than resisting it. It is important to adapt to AI in medical diagnoses and robotics in surgery. He advised surgeons to voluntarily defer elective procedures during peak parvani days in Aug and Sept, besides reserving ICU beds and blood units for emergencies. Concluding his address, Prasad urged the medical practitioners to leverage AI and research to expand Nashik’s potential as a regional healthcare and medical tourism hub.
Prasad observed that mass gatherings like the Kumbh Mela historically helped build herd immunity, keeping widespread epidemics at bay despite India’s tropical climate.
