Lucknow: Attacking past govts over irregularities, nepotism and corruption, chief minister Yogi Adityanath said that those who turned Uttar Pradesh into a ‘BIMARU state’ had no right to question the present govt’s record.
Speaking at an event organised at Lok Bhawan to distribute appointment letters to 912 candidates who were inducted as ministerial staff members (clerks) in the police force, the CM said, “The opposition may keep counting, while the govt will continue making appointments. Appointment letters were given to 818 youths on Saturday, 912 given on Sunday, and more will be distributed on Sept 22. Yogi said that after BJP govt took over in 2017, complete transparency was ensured in the selection of suitable candidates for various govt departments. The 912 vacancies in the police force were floated in 2023.
“Those who, through their inaction and inability, turned Uttar Pradesh into a BIMARU state have no right to speak about the UP Police or the administration of Uttar Pradesh,” he said. Cabinet minister Suresh Khanna also congratulated the candidates and said police service was a responsibility that demanded dedication and public service. He added that under past govts, mafias posed a challenge not only to ordinary citizens and traders, but also to people associated with the administration, police and judiciary. “When a mafia’s convoy passed, vehicles of other people were stopped.
Today, no mafia can dare to create disturbances openly while waving weapons in an open jeep,” Yogi said.
Before 2017, recruitment drives in the state were overshadowed by nepotism, irregularities and paper leaks, leaving deserving candidates sidelined,” he said.
“Along with providing govt jobs to one lakh youth in the next 6 months, a major recruitment event will be held every week in the state,” Yogi said. “Merit-based recruitment strengthens public trust in govt.
