Xavier Worthy is known around Kansas City for his speed, big plays and the excitement he brings to the Chiefs. Away from game days, he has also spent time working with children, supporting education programmes and creating opportunities for young people.

Kimberlyn Jones, BLAQUE Kansas City’s director of programme strategy and impact, explained the organisation’s goal: Worthy explained the purpose of the camp: “Just to show them there’s another way,” Worthy said. The event included football activities, coaching and mentorship, while Worthy spoke about his own path from Fresno to the NFL . The Fresno visit included a personal family moment as well. Worthy threw out the ceremonial first pitch at a Fresno Grizzlies game and recreated an old childhood photograph with his mother and younger sister. A silent auction and jersey raffle were also held to support his foundation’s work with youth and single-parent households. As a Chiefs receiver, who is still building his NFL career, Worthy is also creating a record of what he wants to give back. His football career brought him to Kansas City. His community work is giving him another way to connect with the people who live there.
