Farmers’ Group Plans Sit-In for Relief
The Kissan Ittehad farmers’ group is organizing a sit-in this week in the city, advocating for relief measures for farmers facing challenges.
Police in Rawalpindi, Islamabad’s twin city, have separately sought 9,000 additional personnel to assist the local administration. Earlier reporting noted: PTI’s information secretary Sheikh Waqas said that 73-year-old Khan’s sisters and their children were taken into custody, but the children were released.
On reports of a possible ban on the party, he said the government would seek a “once-and-for-all solution. Aleema Khan, Dr Uzma Khan, and Noreen Khan, who have been calling for Khan’s release, have been sent to Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore, the party said. Earlier reporting noted: “Punjab police have raided Aleem Khan’s home and have abducted Imran Khan’s other two sisters, his nephews, and their children,” PTI spokesperson Zulfi Bukhari said on his social media platform X.
” He also referred to an Islamabad high court order directing the federal government to ensure peace in the capital and claimed that a majority of PTI leaders did not support the planned protest. Meanwhile, the federal government was stepping up security measures ahead of the protest, including placing shipping containers along roads and bringing in police personnel from other provinces.
