New Delhi: At least 20 students of Delhi University ’s School of Open Learning (SOL) have reported that their academic records incorrectly identify them as Nepalese nationals, raising concerns about the potential impact on higher education admissions, employment and competitive examinations where nationality is an eligibility criterion.
I am concerned this could affect my UPSC eligibility if the error is not corrected urgently,” Dubey said. Pankaj Kumar, a second-year BA Programme student from Bihar, said his records also identify him as a Nepalese national. He said he discovered the error two days ago and was yet to approach the administration for correction.
Among them is Pukhar Dubey, who found that his SOL profile listed his nationality as Nepalese. “I am a third-year political science student preparing for UPSC . I am an Indian national from Varanasi, but the university records list me as Nepalese. The issue has prompted the Krantikari Yuva Sangathan (KYS), which represents SOL students, to write to the university’s vice-chancellor seeking immediate correction of the records, an inquiry into the error and an apology from the institution.
