BLOs at work in Pune district for SIR
Notices were generated for 9,31,783 electors, leaving 30% pending. Of these, only 3,157 were delivered, while 9,28,626 still await delivery, according to the latest district report shared by district election officials.
They said the notices are being sent by WhatsApp or through BLOs who will personally visit the houses. “The notices are being forwarded as per convenience,’’ officials said. District officials said that statewide, the notices have been generated for both unmapped electors and those with logical discrepancies. The notice generation is particularly lagging for rural assembly constituencies, according to the data.
Opposition Calls for Delay in Hearings
Officials have confirmed that hearings will commence after the Ganeshotsav festival. In response, opposition parties are advocating for a two-month postponement of the entire process.
Upcoming Hearings Require Timely Action from Administration
The administration is preparing for hearings set to commence next week. Officials emphasized the need to issue the remaining notices promptly. This will allow electors to submit necessary documents and verify their eligibility within the established timeline of the SIR process.
