Lucknow will once again resonate with the phrase ‘Lucknow Bula Raha Hai’ as the Repertwahr literary and cultural festival makes its comeback for the 14th season. Scheduled to take place from December 17 to 25, this festival promises a rich array of events celebrating literature and culture in the city.
Repertwahr was founded in 2009 by Priyanka Sarkar and Bhoopesh Rai, who said the festival began with theatre and has grown alongside its audiences and the city. The artist line-up across categories will be announced soon.
The dates were announced on Monday following actor and storyteller Roshan Abbas ’ solo theatrical storytelling performance, “Indradhanush: A Pitara of Stories,” held on Sunday. Founder Bhoopesh Rai said the decision to move the theatre segment indoors was taken keeping in mind Repertwahr’s senior theatre audience and Lucknow’s December weather. He said many regular theatre-goers are senior citizens and the new setting will offer a more comfortable experience during winter evenings.
Abbas’ 90-minute show blended dramatic acting, semi-stand-up, music, poetry and personal storytelling. Janeshwar Mishra Park will host literary sessions, music and stand-up comedy, along with food and pop-up stalls, from Dec 17 to 20. The theatre programme will shift to a new venue, Sangeet Natak Akademi, from Dec 21 to 25.
Organisers said this year’s Repertwahr will unfold in two parts across two cultural spaces in the city. A special festival film was also unveiled to mark the upcoming season.
