Kolkata: A 38-year-old delivery executive was allegedly assaulted and robbed at his home in Mukundapur, following a dispute with a neighbour over the disposal of a dead pet dog. Police have launched an investigation after the victim, Debasish Roy, a resident of Satyajit Kanan under Purba Jadavpur Police Station, lodged a complaint.
The incident began on the night of Thursday, when Roy saw his neighbour trying to bury a dead pet dog behind his house, according to the complaint. Police said efforts were underway to identify and arrest all those involved. Roy objected, citing sanitation concerns, and asked the neighbour to inform the Kolkata Municipal Corporation for proper disposal of the carcass. After his discharge in the early hours of Saturday, Roy went to Purba Jadavpur Police Station and lodged a general diary entry. Police conducted a preliminary inquiry and found that a cognisable offence had been committed.
