In the latest case, a senior citizen was allegedly cheated of Rs 28 lakh under the pretext of booking a residential flat in east Kolkata. The incident came to light after the 65-year-old Phoolbagan resident lodged an official complaint. The accused hatched a criminal conspiracy in July 2012, inducing the complainant to book a 3 BHK flat in a project on Dr, according to police. The buyer initially paid Rs 18 lakh to the original developer, against a total consideration of Rs 32 lakh.
The action assumes significance with the police net widening to include land dealers and promoters “enjoying Naskar’s support”. An officer said the crackdown would continue, adding that more FIRS may also be filed. Kolkata: Kolkata Police lodged a fresh FIR late on Monday against former Beleghata strongman Raju Naskar, who was considered close to the former Trinamool leadership, and two promoters in connection with a real estate fraud.
In 2018, Saha reportedly took over as the new developer under Naskar’s patronage, forcing the complainant to pay an additional ₹10 lakh. However, the accused failed to hand over the flat or refund the ₹28 lakh collected. When challenged, they allegedly demanded an additional ₹10 lakh and threatened the victim with dire consequences.
