Dharwad : The University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS), Dharwad, is gearing up to host its four-day Krishi Mela-2026 from Sept 25 to 28, with this year’s edition dedicated to women farmers under the theme, ‘Empowered Woman, Sustainable Agriculture’.
Addressing reporters on Tuesday, UAS-D vice-chancellor NB Prakash said the event aligns with the declaration of 2026 as the International Year of the Woman Farmer, recognising the vital role women play across the agri-food system, from cultivation and value addition to marketing and entrepreneurship.
All 594 exhibition stalls have already been booked, including 168 hi-tech stalls, 293 economy stalls, 75 farm machinery stalls, 28 tractor and heavy machinery stalls and 30 food stalls. Major attractions include a seed mela, natural and organic farming technologies, demonstrations on sustainable crop production, integrated nutrient and pest management, and guidance on Rabi crop technologies. Visitors can also explore exhibits on rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge, hi-tech horticulture and drone applications in agriculture. The event will feature FPO exhibitions, farmer innovations, agri start-ups, agro-forestry technologies, livestock and fodder production displays, fruit and flower shows, and the popular ‘Amazing World of Insects’ pavilion. One of Karnataka’s largest agricultural expos, the mela is expected to attract nearly 20 lakh visitors, including farmers, farm women, rural youth, scientists, extension workers, policymakers, entrepreneurs and agri-industry representatives. UAS has continued its QR code-based online registration facility for visitor convenience.
