Dharwad: National Lok Adalat organised by District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) in Dharwad district recorded the settlement of 27,531 pre-litigation cases and 2,160 pending court cases through conciliation, providing speedy resolution to thousands of litigants.
3,908 cases were taken up for settlement from among 54,937 pending cases across the district, with 2,160 cases successfully disposed of during the Lok Adalat on Sept 19, according to DLSA. The Lok Adalat also considered 31,090 pre-litigation cases, of which 27,531 were amicably settled. Total settlement amount in pre-litigation cases stood at Rs 29.1 lakh, while disputes pending before various courts were settled for a total of Rs 48.5 crore.
Dharwad family court facilitated reconciliation in nine matrimonial and maintenance cases, while Hubballi family court recorded 12 reunions. In another significant outcome, 207 senior citizens resolved their disputes through conciliation during the Lok Adalat. The conciliatory process also helped reunite several families. At Kundgol court, two couples were reunited through mediation.
