During the current monsoon season, 2,178 borewells have been drilled across the district’s five taluks — 512 in Ballari, 288 in Kudligi, 273 in Kampli, 665 in Siruguppa and 440 in Sandur. Drinking water has emerged as a major concern in many villages, with RO units also depending on borewell water. As borewells begin to dry up, water availability at RO plants has also been affected.
