Thrissur : The mother of a motorcyclist, who was injured after being hit by a police jeep at Pudukad Amballur on July 19, on Tuesday alleged that the incident was not an accident and the personnel in the vehicle had deliberately rammed the bike. Prasanna Shaju, a resident of Kalloor near Pudukad, also released photographs and video clips that she said captured details of the incident.
Later, the officers spotted the suspects travelling on a motorcycle and chased them in a jeep, police had said. Her two sons, Abhishek and Amal, and their friend Vishnu were riding a motorcycle when the police jeep knocked them down. Abhishek sustained serious injuries, while Amal and Vishnu escaped with minor injuries. Prasanna has filed a complaint with the additional director general of police, seeking strong action against the officers and demanding that an attempt-to-murder case be registered against them. Four police officers attached to Pudukad police station, including a sub-inspector, were suspended following allegations that they had abandoned the injured motorcyclists on the roadside and failed to take them to hospital after the incident. Prasanna alleged that a video automatically recorded on her son’s mobile phone showed that the police personnel had deliberately rammed the motorcycle with the jeep, suggesting that the incident was not accidental. In the incident, police received a call about a clash at a roadside thattukada at Amballur, near Pudukad. Those allegedly involved in the clash fled the scene when the police arrived. The police vehicle reportedly collided with the motorcycle, causing all three riders to fall onto the road.
