HYDERABAD: The Telangana government on Wednesday declared a holiday for government offices, schools and colleges located in and around Hyderabad and adjoining Ranga Reddy and Medchal Malkajgiri districts on September 25 on account of the Ganesh Chaturthi idol immersion procession. Consequently, November 14 will be observed as a working day for all government offices, schools and colleges in Hyderabad and the adjoining districts in lieu of the holiday declared on September 25, a Government Order (GO) said, news agency PTI reported. Thousands of Lord Ganesh idols will be immersed in water bodies in Hyderabad on September 25, marking the conclusion of the Ganesh Chaturthi festivities. Elaborate arrangements have been made in Hyderabad for the immersion procession, with about 30,000 police personnel deployed for security, crowd management and traffic regulation. More than 10,000 CCTV cameras will also be used for surveillance, police said on Wednesday.
