Hyderabad : Irrigation minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Wednesday announced a slew of education, housing and infrastructure projects worth ₹23 crore for his native village, Thatipamula, while also defending the state govt’s handling of the El Niño-induced rainfall deficit and accusing the BRS of politicising farmers’ distress.
Addressing a public meeting, Uttam accused the BRS of spreading “malicious propaganda” over the El Niño phenomenon and attempting to derive political mileage from farmers’ hardships. He said El Niño was a global weather phenomenon affecting rainfall and not something “coined in the Congress office”.
